Founded by Irish immigrant Dan Higgins in Manawatū in 1958, Higgins has grown from a local contracting business into a leading civil construction company, with operations spanning infrastructure delivery, maintaining and operating critical transport networks, and the manufacture of bitumen products.
In 2016, Higgins became part of Fletcher Building and joined the Fletcher Construction family of brands. In 2026, Fletcher Construction was acquired by VINCI Construction, connecting Higgins to one of the world's leading construction and concessions groups while continuing to build on the strengths and heritage that have defined the business for more than 65 years.
